Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a cast steel for a low temp. member with superior mechanical properties and no casting defects by preparing a steel contg. a specified percentage each of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Mo, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A steel consisting of 0.01W0.10% C, ≤0.15% Si, ≤0.90% Mn, 7.5W12.0% Ni, 0.01W0.10% Mo and the balance Fe with impurities is prepared. The amounts of P and S among the impurities are ≤0.015% and ≤0.005%, respectively. In said composition the upper permitted value of S may be regulated to 0.010%. At this time, 0.005W0.20% Mg or ≥1/2 time as much Ca as S may be added. It is preferable that a deoxidizer is used so that about 0.010W0.060% Al as sol. Al remains.
