Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting apparatus capable of reducing defects such as macro segregation and shrinkage cavity resulting from such a flow that a convection loop is formed due to a difference in density between the solid and liquid phases of dendrite in a solid/liquid coexisting phase ranging from solidifying riser to the bottom part of a mold in manufacturing an ingot represented by a large-sized steel ingot and also increasing the yield of products, whereby increasing productivity and contributing to the improvement of environment by a reduction in energy.
SOLUTION: A partition plate for separating the convection loop and reducing flow velocity is disposed in a boundary between a riser and the mold in the casting apparatus constituted of the riser and the mold. A space (a through hole) enabling the supply of molten metal from a riser part to a product part is formed in the partition plate.
