In a casting apparatus 10A, which is provided with a mold 12 having a pouring gate 21 to one end part of an upper wall 12a and a closing plug 13 to fit/separate for a peripheral wall of a pouring gate 21 to open/close the pouring gate 12 of the mold 12, and in which a molten metal 1' is poured into the mold 12 by separating the opening/closing plug 13 from the peripheral wall of the pouring gate 21 and then pouring of the molten metal 1' for the casting mold 12 is stopped by bringing the opening/closing plug 13 into contact with the peripheral wall of the pouring gate 21, a peripheral wall constituting section 20 constituting the peripheral wall of the pouring gate 21 is constituted so as to separate from the casting mold 12, the peripheral wall constituting section 20 is freely attached/detached for the casting mold 12.
