PURPOSE: To prevent the burning of a casting in a device for casting a current collector of a lead storage battery, etc. by boring a cavity in a die, and packing a material having a solidifying point lower than the solidifying point of a casting material and the m.p. slightly higher than the correct temp. for a casting mold in the cavity.

CONSTITUTION: A cavity is bored in the die to be used for casting a current collector of a lead storage battery, etc., and a packing material of tin or a tin-lead alloy or the like having the solidifying point lower than the solidifying point of a casting material and the m.p. slightly higher than the correct temp. for the casting mold is packed in the cavity. When the temp. of the die is going to exceed the correct temp. in the stage of charging the melt of the lead or lead alloy into the casting mold, the temp. rise of the die is prevented by the packed material and the burning of the casting is prevented.
