Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously cast battery positive electrode grid which has corrosion resistance and on which growth is sharply reduced during use by performing cold working on a grid black of a continuously cast web in order to reduce a thickness of the cast web by a specific quantity. SOLUTION: A desired property of a continuously cast positive electrode grid is attained when a thickness of a web 24 cast as it is reduced to a least 70%, that is about 7/2 to 1, desirably, about 75%, that is, 4 to 1. The whole reduction of a thickness of the web must be performed under cold working having a maximum metal temperature falling within a range of 35 deg.F to 180 deg.F, desirably, 50 deg.F to 80 deg.F.
