Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an Al casting dispersed with graphite only in the required part by embedding graphite cast iron contg. a large amt. of graphite by casting in the desired part of an Al material then removing the remaining iron part on the cast iron side.

CONSTITUTION: A thin-walled sleeve material 1 of graphite cast iron contg. a large amt. of graphite is manufactured as a base material for embedding by casting, and an Al alloy 2 of a low m.p. is made to cover the surface on the embedding side of the material 1. The material 1 is set in a casting mold 3 and a charging chamber 5 for molten metal is formed on the outside of the material 1. When a molten Al is charged in a charging chamber 5, the Al alloy and a sleeve material 2 melt-stick together through the covered layer of the alloy 2. The layer of the alloy 2 dispersed already with the graphite migrates to the charged Al alloy side and disperses the graphite into the Al alloy layer. The dispersion of the graphite is prohibited in the part which is not embedded by the material 1. The remaining iron part on the material 1 side is finally removed.
