To provide a casting method which is suitable in the case of not catching up with a molding cycle time because of a long casting time in a high speed vertical type molding line, etc., and with which yield of molten metal can be improved and molten metal pouring time can be shortened, and to provide a pouring box for a mold to be used for this method.
As to this method, a plurality of vertical type molding molds (mold) 1 which includes cavities 4 and runners 6, 11 one end of which is communicated with the cavities 4 and the other end of which is communicated with a sprue cup 10 arranged on the upper surface 2 and the pouring box 12 laid on the upper surface 2 of the related mold 1 and a pouring hole 16 communicated with the sprue cup 10 are provided in the vertical molding line. Then, when the volume of the molten metal M needed to fill up the cavities 4 in each mold 1, runners 6, 11, gates 5, 7, feeder heads 8, necks 9, and the sprue cup 10 is made to be 100%, the substantial holding volume of the molten metal M in the above holding box 12 is made to be 40 to 60% and also, the molten metal M at 80 to 90% volume of the above needed molten metal M is poured into the cavities 4 via the pouring box 12 and passing through the runners 6, 11, the feeder head 8, and necks 9.
