Title:
CASTING METHOD FOR STEEL INGOT AND HEAT INSULATING MATERIAL FOR FEEDER HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63192536
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the development of pipe and segregation in casting of an ingot by charging further sheet-like heat insulating material made of ceramic on an exothermic heat holding material charged on a feeder head to strengthen the temp. holding.

CONSTITUTION: The molten steel (for example 1.0% C, 0.5% Mn, 0.2% Si, etc.) is poured into a mold to produce the ingot. Then, the exothermic type temp. holding material (containing Al, Al2O3, FeO, etc.) is changed on the feeder head and further, the ceramic-made sheet-like heat insulating material, is charged. The ceramic-made sheet-like heat insulating material is formed by blending 38W58 wt.% powdery Al2O3-SiO2 together with binder. The thickness of this sheet-like heat insulating material is regulated to 1.5W4 mm. In this way, the sound ingot reducing the development of pipe and segregation can be produced.
