PURPOSE: To shorten curing time at the time of casting, in such a casting method using a metallic mold that molten metal of ferrous material is poured into the copper alloy mold and cast.
CONSTITUTION: Cavities 5 are formed with the metallic molds 1, 2 and journal inserts 3 being independently and freely opened/ closed in the metallic molds 1, 2. The molten metal is poured in the cavities 5 and the journal inserts 3 are released from the metallic mold just after the time, at which the surface layer temp. reaches the eutectic temp., and at the step which unsolidified part Wm remains in the inner part. Chilled structure (t) produced on the surface layer is eliminated by the residual heat of the unsolidified part Wm and the casting is partially softened. Thereafter, the casting is released from the metallic molds 1, 2.
