PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture a metallic mold pattern for a whole casting after the arrival of a final design by manufacturing a casting pattern having many design changing parts from the past developing process with a soft material.
CONSTITUTION: Looking back on the process of the past trial manufacture, testing, design change of a cylinder block for an internal combustion engine, the design is frequently changed to a part fitting a crank shaft and its vicinity and a large part of wall surface arrives to the final design shape in one or two times of the design changes. Then, in the casting pattern 11 for cylinder block, a first partial pattern 1 constituting the outer wall is manufactured with a metallic mold and the part fitting the crank shaft, i.e., the casting pattern in the part, at which vibration and load applied on the completed parts are complicated, is made to be a second partial pattern 2, and this pattern is constituted of the soft material which can economically be manufactured for a short time. For the soft material, a resin material or wood can be used.
