Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain casting refractories for molten steel treating equipment having excellent spalling resistance and slag resistance.
CONSTITUTION: These casting refractories for molten steel treating equipment consist of a compd. contg. 50 to 90wt.% periclase/spinel raw materials which have chemical component values consisting of 40 to 85wt.% MgO, 10 to 55wt.% Al2O3 and 0.7 to 5wt.% SiO2 and in which periclase and MgO.Al2O3-base spinel coexist and 10 to 50wt.% magnesia which has a grain size of ≤1mm and contg. ≤0.5wt.% SiO2 component. The refractories described above otherwise contain ≤25wt.%, in inner per cent, alumina raw material.
