Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst carrier for exhaust gas purifying devices, which is primarily formed to have sufficient joining strength in spite of diffusion joining type, has improved vibration resistance, heat resistance, thermal stress relaxation performance, or the like, and excellent in the aspect of strength, and which is secondarily capable of attaining the above properties with a simple means, easily manufactured and advantageous in the aspect of cost, and to provide a manufacturing method of the catalyst carrier. SOLUTION: In the catalyst carrier 14 and its manufacturing method, a stainless belt-like corrugated plate 1 and a stainless belt-like flat plate 2 are wound roll-like while holding a narrow stainless belt-like joint auxiliary material 15 to form a honeycomb structure. The joint auxiliary material 15 is positioned inside projecting parts 6 opened to expand which is formed on both end parts of the corrugated plate and has the thickness T larger than the height H of the projecting part. The corrugated plate 1 and the flat plate 2 are successively diffusion-joined to each other with partially high contact pressure by the joint auxiliary member 15 without being affected by the projecting parts 6 opened to expand.
