Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst carrier and a catalyst-carried body excellent in heat fatigue resistance, impact and vibration resistance, and capable of maintaining a homogeneous catalyst reaction temperature by self-heating, and a method of inexpensively producing a catalyst carrier without applying an aluminum oxide coat such as by wash coat.SOLUTION: The porous catalyst carrier has a structure obtained by winding spirally a stainless steel strip 10 press-formed to a wave or recess-projection 11 form and punched with penetrated holes 13 having yoke like protrusions or flashes 12 on their edges in the wave or recess-projection 11 formed crest or trough, and a heat-resistant electrical insulation tape by overlapping each other, and is formed with an aluminum oxide film over whole surface of the stainless steel strip 10. The catalyst carrier self-heats by applying electricity between electricity-supplying terminals provided at both ends of the stainless steel strip 10. The catalyst carried body comprises the catalyst carrier.
