Abstract:

To provide a method for improving power generation efficiency of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell by increasing a catalyst surface area of a catalyst electrode for a fuel cell.

This method is used for carrying and fixing a catalyst for a fuel cell where minute catalyst aggregates (dot-pattern catalyst) are dispersed on a catalyst carrying substrate for carrying and fixing a catalyst for a fuel cell; and an area occupied by the dot-pattern catalyst is set to 5 to 50% by forming 10-500 dots per 5 cm2 of the dot-pattern catalyst on the substrate, or the dot-pattern catalyst is three-dimensionally dispersed on the substrate.
