Title:
CATALYST FOR CLEANING WASTE GAS FROM DIESEL ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001079409
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To reduce the power of oxidizing sulfur dioxide and also improve the efficiency of cleaning other waste gas components containing particle substances by immersing a main catalyst component of noble metals in a carrier supporting copper oxide.

A catalyst for cleaning waste gas from diesel automobiles, which has a high efficiency in oxidizing particle substances in the waste gas from diesel automobiles is produced in such a way that the catalyst has a carrier supporting copper oxide (CuO) and a main catalyst component of noble metals immersed in the carrier. In this case, the preferable carrier to be used is porous materials of one or more selected from zirconia, titania, silica and tin dioxide, and the preferable main catalyst component of noble metals is one or more of platinum, palladium, rhodium and rhenium. Preferably, the amount of the carried copper oxide is 1-40% by mass based on the mass of the carrier and the amount of the immersed noble metals is 0.01-3% by mass based on the mass of the carrier.
