To provide a catalyst combustion device that can burn with good thermal efficiency the combustible gas having low calorific value and much moisture and a fuel cell cogeneration system that is equipped with this catalyst combustion device and has a high total energy efficiency by burning anode off-gas and uses a fuel of pure hydrogen or hydrogen-rich gas.
This is a catalyst combustion device 150 which is equipped with a catalyst filling layer 164 in which a combustion catalyst 166 for promoting combustion of a combustion assistant gas 22a having oxygen and a combustible gas 21a is filled, a gas inlet passage 165 which is formed at the surrounding of the catalyst filling layer and is a passage of the combustion assistant gas and the combustible gas, a heat transfer medium filling layer 174 which is a passage of a gas 63a burnt in the catalyst filling layer and is filled with a heat transfer promoting medium 176 that transfers the heat of the burnt gas, and a cooling water passage 175 which is formed at the surrounding of the heat transfer medium filling layer and is a passage of a cooling water 42a. Furthermore, this is a fuel cell cogeneration system which has this catalyst combustion device and burns the anode off-gas.
