To provide a catalyst combustor capable of achieving low NOx ratio by employing catalyst combustion for a pre-burner, based on the fact that premixed fuel gas of high concentration is usable for the pre-burner regardless of loads on a gas turbine.
This catalyst combustor 1 comprises a catalyst burner 9 for ignition provided in an air inlet passage 3 of the catalyst combustor 1 to heat air flowing into a main partial oxidation catalyst carrying part 7 to catalyst ignition temperature. The catalyst burner 9 for ignition has a partial oxidation catalyst carrying part 14. Fuel concentration of premixed gas 24 flowing into the partial oxidation catalyst carrying part 14 is held to be less than a theoretical mixture ratio, and at an ignitable concentration or more in temperature and pressure conditions of air flowing into the partial oxidation catalyst carrying part 14.
