Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject catalyst component, composed of a specific transition metallic compound, capable of providing a high-molecular weight and high-melting polymer in high yield and useful for producing polymers for extrusion molding and injection molding.
CONSTITUTION: This catalyst component is composed of a compound expressed by the formula [R1 is H, 1-6C hydrocarbon group or 1-12C silicon-containing hydrocarbon group; R2 and R3 are bivalent 3-30C hydrocarbon residue or silicon- containing 1-30C hydrocarbon residue containing 1-6 Si; Q is bivalent 1-30C hydrocarbon group, silylene, germylene, etc.; X and Y are H, halogen or (oxygen-containing) 1-20C hydrocarbon group; M is group IVB to VIB transition metal of the periodic table]. The catalyst component is preferably combined with an aluminumoxy compound, a Lewis acid, an ionic compound, reactive with this catalyst component and capable of converting this catalyst component into cations and this catalyst component combined with it to provide the objective catalyst for polymerizing an α-olefin, which is brought into contact with α-olefin to obtain the objective α-olefin polymer.
