To provide a new polymerization catalyst component which can produce polyolefins in high efficiency.
In the catalyst component for polymerizing olefins obtained by bringing a compound (A) containing a metallic element selected from any of group 5 to group 11 of the periodic table into contact with a ligand component (B), an amidine compound is used as the ligand component (B). The catalyst component further includes a catalyst component obtained by contacting a compound (C) containing a metallic element selected from any of group 1, 2, 11, 12 and 13 of the periodic table in addition to the above compound (A) containing a metallic element selected from any of group 5 to group 11 of the periodic table and a ligand component (B) being an amidine compound. The use of the catalyst component makes it possible to obtain a polymerization catalyst component giving polyolefins with a high molecular weight and containing less low molecular weight side polymer fraction.
