To provide a catalyst for (co)polymerizing olefins, having high polymerization activity and capable of producing a (co)polyolefin having a higher molecular weight and a narrower molecular weight distribution and to provide a method for producing a (co)polyolefin using the same catalyst.
This catalyst for (co)polymerizing olefins is a supported catalyst in which (A) a transition metal compound expressed by formula I {[η-C5R15M1 M12][μ-η-C5R24-SiR32-η-C9R46] [η-C5R55M1X22]} or formula II {[η-C5R65M2 M32][μ-η-C5R74-B-η-C5R84] [η-C5R95M2X42]} [wherein, η-C5R15, η-C5R24, η-C5R55, η-C5R65, η-C5R74, η-C5R84 and η-C5R95 are each a (substituted) indenyl; R3 is a hydrocarbon; B is a crosslinking group containing Si; M1 and M2 are each Ti, Zr or Hf; X1-X4 are each a halogen or the like] and (B) aluminoxane are supported by a fine particle support. A (co)polyolefin is obtained by (co) polymerizing olefins in the presence of this catalyst and an organic aluminum compound.
