Title:
CATALYST FOR DECOMPOSITION OF VOLATILE ORGANIC CHLORINE COMPOUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0852360
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst which can decompose efficiently a volatile organic chlorine compd. in the coexistence of steam and oxygen and can keep its activity for a long time.

CONSTITUTION: A catalyst wherein at least one component selected from a group consisting of platinum, palladium and ruthenium as a main catalyst active metal component is carried on a carrier with zirconia as a main component and a phosphorus oxide is carried as a cocatalyst and the amt. of carrying of the main catalyst active metal component is 0.1-5wt.% equivalent in terms of metal to the catalyst and the amt. of carrying of the cocatalyst component is 2-5wt.% equivalent in terms of phosphorus pentaoxide to the catalyst, is provided. The phosphorus oxide incorporated as the cocatalyst component exhibits a synergistic effect with the main catalyst metal component. As the result, a volatile organic chlorine compd. can be efficiently treated for a long time and it is practical.
