Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine the degradation of a catalyst despite a reference value of catalyst degradation is set high.
SOLUTION: A catalyst temperature detection unit detects the temperature of a catalyst containing Ceria (CeO2) as an oxygen occlusion agent. If the detected catalyst temperature is higher than an active temperature of the catalyst and within a specific temperature range (degradation detection temperature range) where NOx purification efficiency decreases, a degradation detection unit detects the degradation of the catalyst.
