To provide a catalyst device which solves the following problem: though some conventional catalyst devices have a substrate composed of a metallic material and quickly heat a catalyst to its active temperature by direct energization of the substrate, the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between an adsorbent catalyst layer and the substrate is large; hence the adsorbent catalyst layer is peeled from the substrate and the durability of the catalyst devices can not be secured.
This catalyst device is prepared by inserting inorganic-material-containing electrical insulating plates 31 each having an adsorbent catalyst layer 32 formed on the surface thereof, into a gap between the waves of a metallic substrate 1 having a corrugated shape. The catalyst device decomposes an adsorbed odor by energization of the substrate, exhibits a rapid temperature rise, is resistant to heat stress, and can secure its durability.
