To provide a catalyst for manufacturing coil-shaped carbon fiber which enables mass production of carbon nanocoils, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.
The catalyst for manufacturing coil-shaped carbon fiber composed by making porous ceramics dispersedly carry partially oxidized metallic particles or partially oxidized and sulfurized or phosphorized metallic particles, is manufactured by making the porous ceramics dispersedly carry metallic particles and then partially oxidizing the metallic particles or partially oxidizing and sulfurizing or phosphorizing the metallic particles. The catalyst for manufacturing coil-shaped carbon fiber composed by providing a partially oxidized metallic film, or a partially oxidized and sulfurized or phosphorized film on the surface of the porous ceramics is manufactured by providing the metallic film on the surface of the porous ceramics and then, subjecting the metallic film to partial oxidation treatment, or partial oxidation treatment and sulfurization treatment or phosphorization treatment.
