To provide a catalyst for olefin polymerization excellent in activity retaining property in polymerization and enabling production of an olefin polymer having good granular property and provide a method for producing the olefin polymer by using the catalyst.
This catalyst for olefin polymerization comprises the following components A and B. The component A is a catalyst component for olefin polymerization, in which a transition metal compound constituting the catalyst component is supported on a support which is a substantially non-crosslinked copolymer of an α-monoolefin with a diene and the transition metal compound by bonding the transition metal compound through the unsaturated bond to the support. The component B is a halogen-containing organoaluminum compound represented by the formula R3-a AlXa [R is a 1-20C hydrocarbon residue; X is a halogen; 0<(n)<3].
