Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject catalyst consisting of a specific transition metal compound, an organoaluminum compound and a contact product of a Mg compound and an electron donative substance, excellent in both of olefin polymerization activityt and economical efficiency and capable of producting an olefin polymer in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: The objective catalyst consists of (A) a transition metal compound of the group IVB of the periodic table including a ligand having cyclopentadienyl skeleton [preferably bis(methylcyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride, etc.], (B) an organoaluminum compound (preferably ≥4C trialkylaluminum, etc.) and (C) a contact product of a Mg compound and an electron donative substance (preferably magnesium chloride.2-ethylhexyl alcohol complex, etc.). Furthermore, the catalyst is preferably prepared by a method comprising bringing the component A into contact with the component B and then bringing the product into contact with the component C or bringing the component B into contact with C and then bringing the product into contact with the component A. The contact temperature is preferably 10-150°C and the contact time is preferably 1sec to 1hr.
