Abstract:
To provide a catalyst which can carry out the polymerization of a conjugated diene or the copolymerization of the diene and an aromatic vinyl compound efficiently and inexpensively.
The catalyst which is used for the polymerization of the diene or the like comprises a metallocene type cation complex of a rare earth metal compound. For example, it is a solid catalyst of a trivalent rare earth metal compound represented by the formula (I): RaMXb [M is a rare earth metal; R is a cyclopentadienyl group, substituted cyclopentadienyl group, indenyl group, substituted indenyl group, fluorenyl group or substituted fluorenyl group; X is an anion; a is an integer of 1 or 2; b is an integer of 1 or 2].
