Abstract:

To obtain the subject catalyst having extremely low corrosiveness and effective retardation by using a mixture of a tertiary amine and a saturated dicarboxylic acid.

This catalyst comprises a mixture of (A) a tertiary amine (preferably triethylenediamine, dimethylcyclohexylamine, on the like) and (B) a saturated dicarboxylic acid of and the formula: HOOC-(CH2)-COOH ((n) is 2-14) (preferably adipic acid, sebasic acid, on the like). Since the mixture of the components A and B is often a solid, preferably the mixture is dissolved in a solvent and used in a liquid form. Water, ethylene glycol, and the like, are preferable as the solvent. The blending ratio of the components A and B is adjusted to make the aqueous solution of the mixture pH ≥7. In using the objective catalyst to produce a polyurethane, the amount of the catalyst used is preferably 0.05-5 pts.wt. of based on 100 pts.wt. of a polyol.
