PURPOSE: To obtain a new chlorine dioxide generation catalyst having a reduced rate of deactivation.
CONSTITUTION: Palladium, palladium together with another platinum group metal or palladium together with a group IB metal is impregnated into the outer edge part of a support selected from the group consisting of supports modified with carbonate of a group IA metal, carbonate of a group IIA metal and a magnesium salt convertible to MgO, respectively.
