Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain catalyst with high catalytic power and durable for a long term service by a method wherein each of ultrafine powders of base metals such as iron and the like, which are manufactured by an in-gas vaporization method, or a mixture of said powders blended at a certain fixed ratio is deposited on ceramic catalyst carrier. CONSTITUTION:Ultrafine powders of base metals such as iron, nickel and the like are manufactured by the in-gas vaporization method or a method to obtain soot-like particles through quenching of the raw material evaporated at high temperature in inert gas by bringing into collision with gas atoms or gas molecules. Desired catalyst is obtained by depositing said ultrafine powder or mixture of a plurality of base metal ultra fine powders blended at a certain fixed ratio on a ceramic catalyst carrier such as gamma-alumina, titania or the like. In such a manner as mentioned above, the catalyst for purifying exhaust gas with high activity and catalytic power and with excellent stability for a long term service can be available at low cost.
