Abstract:

To effectively prevent the generation of a coking phenomenon blocking the pores of a porous material layer and to hold the adsorbing function of the porous material layer adsorbing a non-combustion component such as an HC component in exhaust gas to a good state over a long period of time.

In an exhaust gas purifying catalyst arranged to the exhaust system of an engine, a porous material layer 3 composed of zeolite crystals is supported on a catalyst carrier composed of a monolithic carrier 1 and catalytically active seeds 6 composed of noble metal such as palladium or noble metal oxide such as palladium oxide are supported in the pores 4 formed in the porous material layer 3.
