Title:
CATALYST FOR REDUCING BENZENE CONTENT IN PETROL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3831820
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst useful for reducing the benzene content of petrol fractions by using specified contents of eta alumina and gamma alumina in the catalyst comprising a halogen and VIII group metals on a support composed almost of eta alumina and gamma alumina.
CONSTITUTION: The catalyst comprises 4-15 wt.% of at least one halogen (such as chlorine) and at least one metal from group VIII metals (such as platinum) on a support composed almost of eta alumina and gamma alumina. The content of eta alumina is 85-95 wt.% of the support. The remainder to 100% of the support is gamma alumina. Further, eta alumina has a specific surface area of 400-600 m2/g and a porous volume of 0.3-0.5 cm3/g. Further, gamma alumina has a specific surface area of 150-300 m2/g and a porous volume of 0.4-0.8 cm3/g. As a result, the catalyst useful for reducing the benzene content of petrol fractions is obtained.
