Title:
CATALYST FOR SOLID POLYMER FUEL CELL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2013131420
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a catalyst for a solid polymer fuel cell, excellent in initial activities (initial power generation characteristics) and also good in durability, and a method for producing the catalyst for a solid polymer fuel cell.

The present invention relates to a catalyst for a solid polymer fuel cell, in which a catalyst particle comprising platinum is supported on a carbon powder carrier. In the catalyst for a solid polymer fuel cell, the carbon powder carrier has a maximum water vapor absorption amount in a water vapor adsorption isotherm measured at 25°C of 150-250 m3/g (in STP) on a catalyst mass basis, and the platinum particle has an average particle size of 3.5-8.0 nm and a platinum specific surface area (COMSA) due to CO adsorption of 40-100 m2/g.
