To provide a catalyst unit which is constituted in such a way that the air to be treated is heated before passing through a catalytic body and the catalytic body is not clogged with a fine particle or the like contained in the air to be treated and which is made compact and exhibits the capacity for efficiently removing bad smell.
The catalyst unit is provided with: the catalytic body 3 in which a spiral catalyst-deposited body 2 is fit to surround the outer periphery of a cylinder 1; a heating means 4 arranged inside the cylinder 1 for heating the catalytic body 3; a casing 5 for housing the catalytic body 3; an air inlet 6 for letting the air to be treated into the catalytic body 3; and an air outlet 7 for discharging the air to be treated from the catalytic body 3. One end of the heating means 4 and one end of the casing 5 are sealed hermetically at a contact 8A and the other end of the heating means 4 and one end of the cylinder 1 are sealed hermetically at another contact 8B. Since the air to be treated is heated satisfactorily inside the cylinder equipped with the heating means before passing through the catalytic body, a bad smell component can be decomposed without lowering the surface temperature of a catalyst. Since the heating means is sealed hermetically at the contacts 8A, 8B, the air to be treated does not leak out of the catalyst unit toward the outside before treated with the catalyst.
