In the catalytic converter 10, the catalyst 11 constituted by winding a mat 12 on its outer circumferential face is inserted into the outer cylinder 13, so that the catalyst 11 is fixed to the inside of the outer cylinder 13 by the face pressure of the mat 12. A pressure detection hole 14 is formed in a side face 13a of the outer cylinder 13 so as to detect repulsive force of the mat 12 with a state where the pressure detection hole faces the mat 12.
