Title:
CATECHIN-CONTAINING POLYPROPYLENE FIBER AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3348043
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inexpensive polypropylene fiber exhibiting effect and durability similar to those for conventional piece-dyed fibers regarding antimicrobial and deodorizing effects, excellent in form stability with no hygroscopic swellability, and to provide a method for producing the above fiber.
SOLUTION: This catechin-contg. polypropylene fiber is such as to be compounded with (1) catechins, (2) polyethylene, and (3) a porous material, low-melting polyamide, modified polyolefin, or at least two kinds thereof. This fiber is obtained by the following steps: a master batch is first made by compounding polyethylene with (1) catechins, (2) a porous material, low-melting polyamide, maleic acid-modified polyolefin, or at least two kinds thereof, and the master batch thus made is kneaded with a polypropylene resin and, concurrently the kneaded product is put to melt spinning.
