Abstract:
A reduction in irreversible capacity is attained without degrading other battery characteristics. A negative electrode material, a negative electrode for lithium ion secondary battery, a lithium ion secondary battery, and a manufacturing method thereof, the negative electrode material containing a carbonaceous material, in which the interplanar spacing (d002) between (002) planes of the carbonaceous material determined by an X-ray wide-angle diffraction method is smaller than or equal to 0.338 nm, the integrated pore volume of the carbonaceous material in pore diameters of 2 nm or more to 3.5 nm or less determined from a gas adsorption method is 3.0×10−2 cc/g or less, and, for example, a water-soluble polymer is contained in the carbonaceous material.
