To provide cathode-ray tube display equipment which is capable of shortening an elapsed time required from a picture signal input to a display on a screen as well as reducing a power consumption in a standby status.

This display equipment is provided with a timer which controls heater current for the cathode-ray tube by switching on/off with a laps of time, and a sensor which detects the presence of humans. When the sensor detects the presence of humans, even a picture signal is not inputted, the timer controls the heater current by switching on/off with a laps of time to preheat the heater.
