To obtain the subject composition adhesive to hard tissue.

This adhesive composition which is intended for binding and bindable to hard tissue comprises (a) a cationically polymerizable component, (b) an acid component and (c) cationic polymerization initiator, wherein, specifically, the hard tissue is selected from the group consisting of dental enamel, dental cement, dentine, finger nails, toe nails and bone, and the component (a) is selected from the group consisting of epoxy resins, vinyl ethers, oxetanes, spiro-orthocarbonates, spiro-orthoesters, and combinations thereof and the component (b) is maleic acid, maleic anhydride, 2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl maleaste, or a reaction product or copolymer of maleic anhydride and an acrylate derivative such as 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate or 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), and the component (c) is a photoinitiator comprising an iodonium salt and a visible light photosensitizer.
