PURPOSE: To obtain a polymerizable and curable compsn. having improved adhesiveness, abrasion resistance. insulating properties, etc., by compounding a cationically polymerizable compd. with a specific sulfur compd.
CONSTITUTION: A sulfonimide is reacted with N-bromosuccinimide or chlorine gas in a molar ratio of the former to the latter of (10:1) to (1:10) at -30 to 10°C for 5min to 5hr to give a chlorine adduct, which is reacted with a sec. amine in a molar ratio of the adduct to the amine of (10:1) to (1:50) at -20 to 50°C for 1-40hr to give a sulfur compd. of the formula [wherein R1, R2, and R3 are each 1-30C (halogenated)alkyl, (halogenated)aryl, arylsulfonyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, cyclo(alkyl)alkyl, arylcycloalkyl, alkylene, arylene, or (oxa)aralkylene; X is 0 or S; and (m), (n), and (p) are each 0 or 1]. The objective compsn. is obtd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. cationically polymerizable compd. with 0.001-50 pts.wt. the sulfur compd.
