To provide a cationized glycerolized cellulose which can impart excellent slipping property during rinsing and its persistent feeling, and moist feeling and softness to hair after drying when it is blended into a hair cosmetic, and can impart superior moisture retention feeling after drying when it is blended into a skin detergent, and to provide a surfactant composition containing the same, and a hair cosmetic composition and a skin detergent composition containing the surfactant composition.

[1] The cationized glycerolized cellulose of a specific structure has a main chain derived from anhydroglucose, and a degree of substitution of cationized alkyleneoxy group of 0.01-0.18 and a degree of substitution of glycerol group of 0.5-5.0, per unit of the anhydroglucose. [2] The surfactant composition contains the cationized glycerolized cellulose, a surfactant, and water. [3] The surfactant composition is used as the hair cosmetic composition and the skin detergent composition. [4] The hair cosmetic composition and the skin detergent composition contain the cationized glycerolized cellulose, a surfactant, and water.
