PURPOSE: To circulate indoor air in a manner that proper cool feeling is obtained through forward revolution and an user is not given unpleasant feeling through reversal by varying the speed of revolution when the fan is forward turned and rotating the fan at fixed speed when it is reversed.

CONSTITUTION: A fixed contact piece 12 for forward turning a forward and reverse revolution changeover switch 11 is wired at the connecting side to a capacitor 10 of main winding 8, and a fixed contact piece 13 for reversal is wired at the connecting side to the capacitor 10 of auxiliary winding 9. The movable contact piece 14 of the forward and reverse revolution changeover switch 11 is connected to one of a commercial power supply 15, variable-speed taps 16, 17 are drawn out of the auxiliary winding 9, and the other end of the auxiliary winding 9 is connected to each fixed contact piece 19W21 of a variable-speed switch 18. The forward and reverse revolution changeover switch 11 changes over the direction of revolution of a fan motor, the variable-speed switch 18 changes the speed of revolution of the fan motor when the fan is forward turned, and a stalling switch 22 rotates the fan motor and fixed speed when the fan is reversed.
