To provide a cell monitoring method capable of smoothly observing the change of cells or the like due to time lapse observation, capable of easily calculating the areas of living cardiac muscle cells to which the introduction of a gene or dyeing is not applied to numerate them, and to provide a cell monitor device.
For monitoring the cells in a culture container 31, the cell monitor device is so constituted that the cells or cell group in the culture container 31 containing the cells is imaged at each fixed time interval by an imaging means 10, and a computer successively compares the images photographed, with respect to a specific place (identical location in the cells) to detect the fluctuations (shifts) among the images and corrects the detected fluctuations and then to display respective images. The culture container 31 is set to an immovable state, and the imaging means 10 is moved three-dimensionally by a moving means 20.
