PURPOSE: To obtain the excellent transmitting characteristic in an ultraviolet region close to quartz crystal even at a very low cost by using transparent solid-state pitch fluoride as a raw material for the cell of a spectrophotometer.
CONSTITUTION: The transparent solid-state which fluoride is used as a raw material, and a cell for a spectrophotometer is manufactured. When the transparent pitch fluoride is used as the raw material for the cell for the spectrophotometer, the pitch fluoride is cut into the shape of the cell, and the surface is polished. Thus, the cell is manufactured. Meanwhile, when the pitch fluoride has low transparency or is opaque, heat treatment is performed in a fluorine atmosphere, and the colorless, transparent, solid-sate pitch fluoride is used. Thus the cell is manufactured. The transmittance of the cell for the spectrophotometer obtained in this way is not lowered to a value lower than the vicinity of 200nm which can cover an ultraviolet region approximately. Therefore, the cell is useful as the cell material for the spectrophotometer having a transmitting characteristic in the ultraviolet region.
