Abstract:

To provide a cellulose acetate production method for making it possible to easily reduce a production time of cellulose acetate at a desired total degree of acetyl substitution.SOLUTION: The cellulose acetate production method comprises solvolysis and deacylation of raw cellulose acetate, where the solvolysis of the raw cellulose acetate comprises irradiating the raw cellulose acetate in the presence of a solvent and a catalyst with a microwave having a frequency of 300 MHz to 300GHz, where the solvent includes an alcohol, water, or the alcohol and water which allows solvolysis of acetyl groups in the raw cellulose acetate.SELECTED DRAWING: None
