To provide a cellulose acylate film which has small optical anisotropy (Re, Rth), has optical isotropy, and also has small wavelength dispersion of the optical anisotropy (Re, Rth), and to provide especially a cellulose acylate film which has a small amount of the optical anisotropy reducer added and has small optical anisotropy, and to further provide optical materials such as an optical compensation film and a polarizing plate having excellent optical characteristics, and a liquid crystal display using the cellulose acylate film.
The cellulose acylate film has a front retardation value and a retardation value in a film thickness direction (unit: nm) satisfying 0≤Re(630)≤10 and |Rth(630)|≤25, respectively, and satisfying |Re(400)-Re(700)|≤10 and |Rth(400)-Rth(700)|≤35, and has a quantity of residual sulfuric acid of 30 to 150 ppm (in terms of the content of sulfur element). The optical materials such as the optical compensation film and the polarizing plate use the above film, and the liquid crystal display uses these optical materials.
