Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound retaining drying characteristics, hardness and thickening properties of cellulose fatty acid ester, soluble in water, an organic solvent and a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent. SOLUTION: This cellulose derivative mixed with an ester ether is shown by the formula R is a (R1 COOH)X, a (COR2 )Y or a (H)Z [R1 is Cn H2n ((n) is 1-2); R2 is a Cn H2n+1 ((n) is 1-3); X+Y+Z=3 (X is 0.1-1.8,Y is 0.3-2.5, Z is 0-2.6); (m) is >=8]}. The substitution degree of a carboxyalkyl group is 0.1-1.8 and the substitution degree of an acyl group is 0.3-2.5. A carboxy alkyl cellulose as a raw material is reacted with a mixed solution of trifluoroacetic acid anhydride and/or a fatty acid for 20-50 deg.C for 1-12 hours and acylated. After the reaction is over, the reaction mixture is added to water or 550% methanol solution in water, insolubilized and the reaction product is recovered. The reaction product is washed with water or 5-50% methanol solution in water and filtered to recover a solid content, which is further dried to give the objective derivative of the formula.
