Abstract:
To prepare a cement admixture which can remarkably improve the initial strength of cement without affecting the long period strength of the cement, by formulating a trialkanolamine with fly ash having a specified Blaine specific surface area.
This cement admixture comprises a trialkanolamine and fly ash having a Blaine specific surface area of from 2,500 to <6,000 cm2/g. The trialkanolamine includes triisopropanolamine, and N,N-bis-2-hydroxyethyl)-N-(2- hydroxypropyl)-amine. The trialkanolamine is preferably used in an amount of 0.05 to 0.5 pt.wt., preferably 0.2 to 0.4 pt.wt., per 100 pts.wt. of the fly ash. The cement admixture is preferably used in an amount of ≤30 pts.wt., preferably ≤25 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. of the cement.
