Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a center unit, machine tool and program that can shorten a preparation time.SOLUTION: The tailstock center unit 30 includes: a tailstock center 35 that supports an end portion of a workpiece W; a tailstock center moving unit that moves the tailstock center 35 forward or backward relative to the workpiece W; a storage unit that stores a forward moving distance needed to support the end portion of the workpiece W for each type of the workpiece W; an operation unit that is operated to select and determine the type of the workpiece W; and a control section that reads, in advance, a forward moving distance according to the type of the workpiece W when the type of the workpiece W is determined by the operation unit, and moves the tailstock center 35 by the forward moving distance read in advance via the tailstock center moving unit at a time of moving the tailstock center 35 according to one command of a machining sequence (NC program) or an operation by an operator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
