PURPOSE: To easily set data by altogether including parts which return a response in a remote control device.

CONSTITUTION: When a control is applied from a host device 1 to a remote control device 4, a calling is operated from a MODEM 2 through a public line to an automatic response inhibiting MODEM 3. The automatic response inhibiting MODEM 3 is inhibited from automatically giving a response, so that the line can not be connected towards this calling. A ringer signal is detected by a ringer detecting part 5 provided in the remote control device 4, an automatic responding part 6 is activated by this, and the calling is operated to the preliminarily decided host device 1. Moreover, when the response is not returned from the host device 1, the calling is successively operated to the next host device according to a preliminarily set sequence. Thus, it is possible to facilitate a counter measure to the plural host devices by connecting the line with the other host devices.
